There are a tremendous number of nursing schools across the country; however some are simply ranked higher than others for a variety of reasons. While you will find plenty of lists of the top 10 nursing schools over the Internet, they will share similarities in which ones make the list and which do not. Here we look at the top 10
1. University of Washington
Ever since the year 1984, this university has been ranked the top undergraduate nursing school in the country by the U.S. News and World Report. The University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) is the largest university in Chicago. It is the second member of the University of Illinois system. It serves an estimated 25,000 students within 15 colleges. Included in these colleges is the largest medical school in the country.
9. University of Maryland
The School of Nursing found at the University of Maryland was founded by Nightingale Fund graduate Louisa Parsons in 1889. This school is best known for its innovative education programs that take into account not just national medical and health care needs but international ones as well.
10. University of Pittsburgh
Coming in at the last spot of the top 10 nursing schools is the University of Pittsburgh which was founded in April 1939. The education nurses receive here prepares them for the pressure filled and demanding work environment ahead of them. A comprehensive curriculum is combined with their academic studies, as well as research and clinical experiences.
